Thyroid Applications

The expression of thyroid neoplasia involves the combination of mutations and epigenomic factors.
  • Mutations can change the protein function which will impact cellular growth and behavior.
  • Epigenetics markers like microRNA expression will control protein translation affecting cellular-level growth regulation. Dysregulated microRNAs have been linked with characteristics of cancer.

Dysregulation of microRNAs is linked with various cancer types. (29)
The analysis of the combined mutational and microRNA (miRNA) results defines the risk of malignancy. Preoperative thyroid nodule aspirations containing miRNA expression are measured by RT-qPCR.
