Change Early, Change Often!

One of the easiest ways to keep your H&E slides looking good is to ensure frequent staining solution and reagent changes. Most manufacturers provide information about the number of slides that their reagents may tolerate before they must be changed. While this data is a guideline, see what makes sense for your laboratory. If changing reagents daily is a better fit, then change daily. It is considered best practice to run a control slide through your H&E stain line/process at least daily (or more frequently if large numbers are slides are being stained during the course of a day) to ensure that staining quality is acceptable.
