Poor Coloration: Is the Protocol Long Enough?

Often, simply increasing the time in hematoxylin and/or eosin can improve the coloration. Adding increments of 30 seconds for hematoxylin and 15 seconds for eosin can gradually increase the intensity to the desired coloration.

The nuclear stain in this kidney section is very light.
Simply increasing the time in hematoxylin by 30 seconds to one minute
may be enough to darken the nuclei enough for diagnosis.
