Following the bone marrow aspiration, one myeloid-erythroid (M-E) smeared slide is selected and dipped in methanol for cellular fixation. Once the smear has been dipped in methanol, the slide is removed and allowed to air dry. The slide can sit until the rest of the slides are prepared and ready for iron staining.
