HELLP Syndrome

HELLP stands for Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes, and Low Platelets and appears to be a subtype of PE. HELLP presents with features such as hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and thrombocytopenia. It may be an outcome of severe preeclampsia. This syndrome has been associated with particularly high maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality rates and may be present without hypertension or, in some cases, without proteinuria.
