Equity can be defined as fair and impartial treatment. These proactive measures are examples of how a laboratory can ensure equity in laboratory testing services:
- Provide patients with educational material at the appropriate reading level and context. (In some cases, images/pictures may be more useful.)
- Provide educational materials in other languages if there are communities of individuals for whom English is a second language.
