Thrombocytosis Associated with Toxic Granulation

Thrombocytosis increases platelets secondary to a synergistic or sympathetic response of increased bone marrow activity. This platelet increase may accompany various infectious or inflammatory conditions displaying neutrophilia and toxic granulation. Thrombocytosis accompanying toxic granulation can be seen in the image on the right.
