Mock Inspection

An important tool for inspection preparation is a mock survey or inspection. A mock inspection may be performed by an internal team or third-party individuals. A self-inspection is a review by an individual within a specialty or department of the operation and is limited to a single area only.
This, too, is a process in which all staff members may participate. The mock inspection process serves not only as a tool for upcoming survey preparation but also as an educational opportunity for staff.
Individuals or teams of staff members research and observe documentation, testing process, and other appropriate items to determine compliance and/or deficiencies related to specific regulations or requirements. The observers assess and report to management information/items noted for compliance/non-compliance and play appropriate roles in the corrective action process.
