General Preparedness in Your Community

Learn the daily routines of your neighborhood and community.
Be aware of suspicious or unusual behavior in your neighborhood or other areas that you frequent.
If traveling, do not accept packages from strangers and do not leave luggage unattended even for a short time.
Report any unusual behavior, suspicious packages, and strange devices to the police.
Do not be afraid to move or leave if you feel uncomfortable or if something does not seem right.
Be familiar with the location of emergency exits in buildings you frequently visit and be sure to notice the locations of exits in unfamiliar buildings or public transit areas.
Do not approach or challenge anyone acting in a suspicious manner. Immediately notify the proper authorities. Being vigilant does NOT mean being a vigilante.
