Why is Calibrator Analysis Important?

No matter the analytic methodology, almost all analytical responses experience drift over time. This drift may be due to:
  • aging of specific analyzer components
  • changes in detector specifications
  • alterations in the surrounding environment, such as
    • temperature
    • humidity
    • light
Calibration, or recalibration, effectively re-establishes the response associated with the true analyte concentration, correcting many analytical changes caused by drift.

Multiple gradual drifts down followed by recalibration to reset quantitation.
