PPE Disposal and Waste

Potentially infectious material, including potentially contaminated PPE, should be disposed of properly in an appropriate biohazardous waste container according to lab-specific policies and procedures.
Biohazardous waste that does not contain any Category A infectious material is classified as UN3291, or ‘Regulated Medical Waste.’
Biohazardous waste is regulated federally and may have additional state-specific requirements. Always check with state and local requirements and regulations for all proper disposals.
PPE should be doffed in designated areas.
