Donning and Doffing Disposable Shoe Covers

Donning disposable shoe covers:
  • One foot at a time, pull a shoe cover with elastic cuffs completely over the shoe, covering the top, sides, and bottom of the feet.
  • Start by tucking the toe area of a shoe into the cover and then enclose it around the heel.
Doffing disposable shoe covers:
  • Pull shoe covers off one at a time.
  • Firmly pinch the least contaminated area at the back of the shoe cover near the top of the heel.
  • Either discard each shoe cover one at a time directly into a waste container as they are doffed or roll the first pair inside out as it is removed and use the clean inside portion to doff the outer pair.
  • Place doffed shoe covers into the waste container.
  • Place each foot in a clean area after removing a shoe cover.
