Donning Gowns
Donning a lab gown:
Obtain an appropriate size gown with tight cuffs.
Gowns should fit well to allow for easy movement and cover the torso and arms from the neck to below the knee area.
Fasten securely behind the neck and side or waist.
If a gown can be doffed easily by a ‘break away’ method instead of untying, do not tie in a knot or fasten too tightly to restrict easy doffing.
Some gowns may have thumb holes in or near the cuff area; if present, insert thumbs, which will help keep the sleeve down over the wrist area to provide additional protection.
