Enhanced Precautions

Sometimes, a lab must use enhanced precautions or add PPE based on a risk assessment. Examples of these can include:
  • When infectious aerosols or droplets may be generated.
  • When working with a higher risk or higher volume pathogen(s).
  • When there is a lack of or limited use of containment or engineering controls (e.g., no biological safety cabinet available).
