OSHA requires PPE to be used in the laboratory according to:
- The OSHA Personal Protective Equipment Standard as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.132
- The OSHA Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in the Laboratory Standard as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.1450
The laboratory safety standards require employers to provide PPE and ensure it is used wherever “hazardous materials, processes or environments are encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact.”
