The CDC offers interim guidance on antibody testing.26 The agency advises that the FDA currently does not authorize the use of virus-based neutralization assays for emergency use. However, an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection of total neutralizing antibody has been issued an EUA. Neutralization assays are currently being used as possible surrogates of protection in epidemiological and clinical studies.
