Antithrombotic drugs include those that inhibit platelet aggregation (antiplatelet drugs), inhibit the formation of fibrin strands (anticoagulants), and dissolve existing clots (fibrinolytic). Anticoagulation or clot prevention can be directed at different sites of the coagulation pathway, with overlaps at multiple points.
