Any isolate with the following features should be immediately referred to your LRN reference laboratory:
- Gram stain demonstrates tiny, faintly staining gram-negative organisms that may stain gram-positive
- Slow-growing, convex, non-hemolytic, non-pigmented colonies
- Catalase positive
- Oxidase positive
- Urea positive
