Rickets is a condition that affects the development of bones in children. It causes soft, weak bones that can become bowed or curved. The condition only develops in children and is most commonly diagnosed in those between 3 months and 18 months.
Rickets' main signs and symptoms include a misshaped or deformed skeleton, pain, fragile bones, and poor growth and development.
The most common causes of rickets are an extreme lack of vitamin D, calcium, or both.
