Application of the Hematoxylin and Eosin Stain

The pathologist must first visualize the otherwise transparent features within the cells of all the various tissue types with color in order to microscopically review them. To achieve this, histology staining procedures employ biological dyes. The hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stain is often called "routine staining" and is the standard staining method used in histology.
