Application of the Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) Stain

In order for the pathologist to microscopically review the otherwise transparent features within the cells of all the various tissue types, they first need to be visualized with color. To achieve this, histology staining procedures are employed using biological dyes. The hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stain is often referred to as "routine staining" and is the standard staining method used in histology.
