Artifacts
As in any specimen, liver biopsies are subject to microtomy artifacts.
Examples of artifacts are:
Folds or creases in the tissue section
Formalin pigment
Section compression
Waterbath contaminants
Knife lines
Chatter from rapid sectioning
Chatter from improper rehydration of tissue
