The lobular organization of the liver consists of three general compartments, which are the portal tracts, central veins, and parenchyma. Portal tracts consist of a bile duct, portal vein, and arteriole surrounded by a collagenous matrix. Blood flows to the liver via the portal tract, and blood exits the liver via the central veins.
