This course provides information on liver biopsies, common diseases affecting the liver, and techniques used to assist the pathologist and clinician in diagnosing these diseases, including the use of special staining techniques. Upon completion of this course, the reader will have a greater understanding of histotechniques, including special stains used to create slides adequate for diagnosis, develop foundational knowledge of liver biopsy anatomy and common diseases affecting the liver, and identify artifacts and pigments specific to liver biopsies that may be used to assist in diagnosis.
