Cardiac Troponin T (cTnT)

Cardiac-specific TnT (cTnT) is also encoded by a separate gene and after translation, an 11-amino acid chain is added giving this protein its cardiac specificity. Its release characteristics and elevation periods are similar to cTnI.
In some AMI patients, a second increase in analyte concentration occurs. It is believed that there are two pools of cTnT, cytosolic and structurally-bound pools. The first elevation is from the cytosolic pool and the second elevation is from the structurally bound-pool released later in the necrotic process.
