Understanding appropriate first aid responses and their associated medical devices is an important part of your safety training and general knowledge. This course will provide some basic information about emergency situations that can occur in a laboratory. This course covers:
- CPR and AED
- Back blows and abdominal thrusts (also known as the Heimlich maneuver)
- Responses for bleeding injuries
- Responses for thermal and chemical burns
- Responses for other illnesses and injuries, including fainting, allergic reactions, and heart attacks
Please note: this is a general overview of first aid. It does not provide First Aid, CPR, AED, or Stop the Bleed certification. You must attend in-person training with associated certifications, such as those offered by the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association. Your facility and other organizations may offer such courses.
