Spills

If a spill with potentially infectious material should occur, allow an appropriate amount of time for any aerosols to settle. Clean minor spills, splashes, and other potential forms of contamination immediately with an appropriate disinfectant to prevent or minimize further contamination. Larger spills or splash events may require additional response support depending on severity.
Wearing appropriate PPE, gently cover spill area with absorbent material (e.g., paper towel) and apply a sufficient amount of an appropriate EPA-approved disinfectant, starting at the outer perimeter and working towards the center. Allow sufficient contact time with the disinfectant before clean up.
Properly dispose of any contaminated material into the appropriate waste container. Discard or decontaminate any potentially contaminated PPE. Wash hands thoroughly when done cleaning and disinfecting.
