If a spill with potentially infectious material should occur, allow appropriate time for aerosols to settle. Clean minor spills, splashes, and other potential forms of contamination immediately with a proper disinfectant to prevent or minimize further contamination. Depending on the severity, larger spills or splash events may require additional response support.
Wearing appropriate PPE, gently cover the spill area with absorbent material (e.g., a paper towel) and apply a sufficient amount of a proper EPA-approved disinfectant, starting at the outer perimeter and working towards the center. Allow adequate contact time with the disinfectant before cleaning up.
Properly dispose of any contaminated material into the appropriate waste container. Discard or decontaminate any potentially contaminated PPE. Wash hands thoroughly when done cleaning and disinfecting.
