Lactate Dehydrogenase

Lactate dehydrogenase (LD) is found in every cell's cytoplasm. It is present in the serum at 100–190 U/L, and the level will rise during increased cell damage.

Persons with alpha thalassemia intermedia usually have increased levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LD). This LD is of red blood cell origin and leaks into the plasma during hemolysis.
