Alpha Thalassemia Minor - Heterozygous

In the heterozygous state (--/αα), one parent contributes two normal genes on the same chromosome, while from the other parent, both alpha-chain gene loci are deleted. Since the inheritance pattern differs between the mother and father, this is termed heterozygous.
