8. Donated blood, platelets, or plasma?
Whole blood donors must wait 56 days (8 weeks) between all product donations. Persons donating double red units via apheresis should be deferred for 16 weeks before being allowed to donate again.
Persons donating plasma, platelets, or granulocytes via apheresis must wait at least 48 hours before donating again.
Plasma apheresis donors are allowed to donate twice in a seven-day period if donating a standard volume. If donating twice in a week, there should be 48 hours between donations. There is a maximum limit of 24 platelet donations in a 12-month period.
