Measure Phase

During the measure phase, the improvement team will create a more detailed process map identifying the inputs and outputs of each process step. A measurement system must be established to determine process characteristics or repeatability, reproducibility, or efficiency. These types of measurements are sometimes referred to collectively as process capability.
In the Measure phase, we determine-
  • When is a problem occurring?
  • Where (what step) is the problem arising?
  • What is the baseline performance of this process?
  • How big is the gap between our current performance and our target performance?
