CBC results for patients with double heterozygous condition of sickle cell with beta thalassemia (Hb S/Bthal) can be asymptomatic or demonstrate a slight to moderate anemia. The CBC and peripheral blood smear for a patient with Hb S/Bthal, which appear below, reflect results more consistent with thalassemia than hemoglobinopathy.
