Bar Coding to Improve Patient and Sample Identification

Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology can help keep the laboratory specimens secure, with the use of RFID labels. These new types of labels can be applied to important samples to keep track of them and will let one know if they are removed from the laboratory. Furthermore, because RFID labels can be encrypted to shield the encoded data, labels on samples allow for confidential information to be kept secret from any non-authorized personnel.
