Decreased Intake

Decreased intake of vitamin D is one of the most common cause of deficiency. This is especially true in those that follow a strict vegan diet. Because most of the natural sources of vitamin D are animal based (egg yolk, beef liver, fish, and fish oils), vegans who do not consume any animal-based products must be sure to get their daily intake of vitamin D from supplements or risk being deficient.
