FFP is associated with many risks found with blood-component transfusion, such as infectious disease transmission. In addition, some adverse reactions are more commonly linked with components containing large volumes of plasma. Significant risks widely associated with plasma transfusion include transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI), transfusion-associated circulatory overload (TACO), and allergic/anaphylactic transfusion reactions (ATRs).
