Handling Specimens

Work practice controls affect the transport of blood and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM).
Proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, gloves, and lab coats or aprons, must be used when handling blood specimens and OPIM.
Spilled specimens must be cleaned up using proper PPE.
