Further Analyses for Coagulation Inhibitors

Factor-specific inhibitors, such as anti-Factor VIII, should also be considered when identifying a coagulation factor inhibitor.
Titers can be performed for the antibody in question to quantify the inhibitor and determine the extent of the antibody proliferation. These tests are called Bethesda titer assays. They use a universal inhibition unit to measure factor-specific antibody activity. Based on these titer results, the appropriate dosing of medications may be measured.
