Many neutrophils are present in this image. The image is a Wright-stained CSF smear from a patient with bacterial meningitis. Examples of neutrophils are indicated with the blue arrows.
Several monocytes/macrophages, which have engulfed some of the bacteria, can also be seen among the neutrophils and are indicated by the red arrows.
