Random and Systematic Errors

One should look for two types of errors when examining quality control charts.
Random errors are statistical fluctuations (in either direction) in the measured data caused by the measurement device's precision limitations.
By contrast, systematic errors are reproducible inaccuracies that consistently move in the same direction. They are more subtle and more complex to detect.
