Why is clarification important?
Understanding the recent changes and how to communicate using proper terminology and approved scientific style is important. Clarification applies to changes in the following:
- Taxonomic classification of the microorganism (revision - moving microorganisms to another genus, species, family, order, or class)
- Formal naming of the microorganism (using nomenclature or naming systems to rename)
