What is Liquid Nitrogen and How is it Classified

Liquid nitrogen is the liquefied form of nitrogen gas (N2 or LN2) and is classified as a cryogenic fluid due to its extremely low boiling point of -196°C (-320 °F). It is colorless, odorless, and inert, making it non-flammable and non-toxic. However, its extreme cold can cause severe frostbite and other injuries upon contact.
Liquid nitrogen is classified as a non-flammable gas under hazard class 2.2 by the Department of Transportation.
