Yeast

Fungal infections can also be identified in the cytospin preparations from various body fluids. The next series of images are Wright-stained smears made from the peritoneal fluid of an immunosuppressed patient in renal failure who required peritoneal dialysis.

Note the cluster of yeast cells indicated by the arrow in the image on this page. This was eventually identified as Candida albicans.
