"Clear is Kind, Unclear is Unkind"

In her book Dare to Lead, Dr. Brene Brown discusses the concept of Clear is Kind, Unclear is Unkind.
It is human nature to sometimes be indirect in our communication because we believe we are being kind. When we are indirect and avoid difficult conversations, we are making ourselves more comfortable by avoiding conflict and avoiding hurting the feelings of others. In a workplace setting, being clear and direct in your communication and your expectations is important in relationship management.
Being clear and direct, however, may not always be kind if how the information is delivered is destructive. The difference between being clear and constructive versus being clear and destructive is how you are communicating verbally and non-verbally.
