Blood transfusions are an important and sometimes necessary part of a patient's medical care. Ensuring safe, compatible blood for transfusion is the job of the hospital blood bank. Antibody screens and identification are performed to find the most compatible units for a patient in order to maximize the efficacy of the transfusion as well as deter transfusion reactions.
In this course, you will go through a series of antibody panels, receiving an overview of the antibodies identified, how to perform antibody identification using rule-ins and rule-outs, as well as how to find compatible units for transfusion.
