Introduction

Harassment and discrimination in the workplace have always been unethical, but increasingly, the federal government and individual states are protecting employees by making harassment and discrimination illegal.
Individuals found guilty of harassment or discrimination may be personally punished with termination, monetary damages, and other criminal and civil penalties. In addition, the employer (company) may be responsible for damages.
This course is designed to help you recognize instances of harassment and discrimination in the workplace – and perhaps even in your own behavior. It will also help familiarize you with an employer’s requirements to prevent a hostile work environment and how you and your employer should respond to reports of harassment or discrimination.
