Intended Audience: Histotechnologists, histotechnicians, pathologists' assistants, laboratory supervisors, and laboratory managers. This course is also appropriate for HTL and HT students, cytologists, and pathology residents.
Author Information: Dr. AnnaStacia Penrod is currently a Senior Account Executive with Epredia. Prior to joining Epredia, she was a Histology Lab Supervisor with Quest Diagnostics and Mercy Medical Center. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Psychology and an MBA in Business Intelligence from Capella University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Iowa State University and was awarded her HTL certification in 2014. She has several professional awards, including the NSH Leadership in Management Award and the NSH Patient Safety Award. She has a bronze-level Six Sigma certification and is trained in multiple change management methodologies, including ProSci. Beyond working and presenting, AnnaStacia enjoys serving as the NSH Audit Committee chair, the Missouri Society for Histotechnology Vice President, editing for the JOH, and hosting the “Culture of Histology” podcast. Her current passion is to enhance laboratory culture by improving communication and resources to understand why we do things.

Reviewer Information: Erika Caceres, BS, HTL(ASCP), has nearly eight years of experience as a histotechnologist, progressing from bench technician to pathology supervisor. She has expertise in tissue preparation, staining, and advanced histological techniques, including immunohistochemistry. Her leadership roles at Atrium Health involved directing workflow, optimizing antibodies, and ensuring compliance with CAP and CLIA regulations. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Queens University of Charlotte, where she focused on microbiology and cell biology, followed by completing her Histotechnology training at Carolinas College of Health Sciences.
