Laboratory Path of Workflow and Workflow Plan

The path of workflow refers to the entire set of operations that occur from test ordering to that of test results received by the providers. The path of workflow includes all steps that sequentially go through preanalytical, analytical, and postanalytical phases, with some parallel steps occurring during the process. A laboratory workflow plan is a set of procedural rules used to manage and coordinate tasks between people and systems that have responsibilities in the path of a laboratory workflow.
