Sleep

Many hormones are affected by sleep deprivation, including thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroxine (T4), related to the disruption in the circadian rhythm.
Studies have also found that sleep deprivation is associated with higher white blood cell (WBC) counts and absolute neutrophil counts, and significantly shorter hemostasis parameters, including prothrombin time (PT) and thrombin time.
The lack of restorative sleep results in stress, a variable that will be discussed in greater detail on the next page.
