Overview of the Acute Viral Hepatitis Panel

Having reviewed some basic background information on HAV, HBV, and HCV, this course will now address laboratory assays for each of these viruses. The so-called 'acute viral hepatitis panel' usually consists of the following markers:
  • Hepatitis A IgM Ab
  • Hepatitis B core IgM Ab
  • Hepatitis B surface Ag
  • Hepatitis C Ab
This course will discuss these assays and their clinical utility. First, we will provide a short overview of the current testing methodologies used in these assays.
