Conditions Associated with Pituitary Hypoproduction

The underproduction of pituitary hormones may also lead to serious endocrine disorders and disturbances.
Some of these conditions include:
  • Hypogonadism - caused by diminished production or excretion of LH and FSH
  • Infertility - caused by diminished production or excretion of LH and FSH
  • Secondary Hypothyroidism - caused by decreased production of TSH
  • Lactation failure - inadequate production or release of PRL
  • Pituitary dwarfism - insufficient production of GH
When all pituitary hormones are underproduced, the condition is referred to as "panhypopituitarism".
